Scottish railway stations prepared for the meeting of Ukrainian refugees
07.04.2022
Refugees from Ukraine will be provided with practical assistance and advice at Scottish railway stations.
It is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply.
Due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, many Ukrainians were forced to leave their own homes and leave the country. Some of our countrymen are seeking asylum in Scotland.
For such people, call points for help are equipped at Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow stations.
Every day from 08:00 to 18:00, dedicated staff are at the stations to provide information on travel planning and inform refugees about the assistance that local authorities and the Scottish Government can provide them.
“We were all shocked and saddened by the tragic circumstances that forced ordinary people to leave Ukraine. Meeting points at our two busy stations will provide arrivals with practical support and advice on how to start life in Scotland or plan the next leg of their journey. Scottish Railways is proud to welcome and support refugees and we stand ready to help in any way we can,” said Ross Moran, Head of Operations for Network Rail Scotland.
Please note that for Ukrainians there is free travel around the country.
As previously reported, European railways provided Ukrainian refugees with hundreds of thousands of free tickets.
