Schultz second STB term timeline

Trump renominated Schultz to the board on Sept. 10. Schultz began her first term on the STB on Jan. 11, 2021, after the Senate confirmed her in November 2020, as reported by Progressive Railroading.

She was named the board’s STB vice chairman on Jan. 22, 2025. She previously served as vice chairman from February 2022 to January 2023, according to the STB’s board member profile.

Background at SEPTA and in private practice

Before joining the Surface Transportation Board, Schultz spent 14 years in leadership positions at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). Most recently, she served as SEPTA’s deputy general counsel.

In that role, Schultz represented the agency before the Federal Railroad Administration and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, served as lead counsel on a major railroad reconstruction project, and oversaw compliance, regulatory and legislative issues. She also acted as lead counsel on real estate transactions and contract negotiations.

Earlier in her career, Schultz worked as an associate with White and Williams LLP.
