SacRT supports urban expansion in the Railyards

SacRT General Manager and CEO Henry Li emphasized that while the suspension may inconvenience some riders, the investment will enhance long-term transit access.

He said the new station will connect the growing Railyards area with downtown and improve service for future riders. SacRT remains committed to minimizing disruption during construction.

SacRT partnership powers Railyards transformation

Railyards President and CEO Denton Kelley praised SacRT for helping bring transit infrastructure into the heart of one of the largest infill projects in the U.S.

He highlighted that the new station will support a mixed-use urban district featuring homes, retail, a Kaiser medical center, and a live music venue.

The Railyards redevelopment spans 244 acres and will double the size of downtown Sacramento. It aims to create a vibrant, walkable neighborhood anchored by accessible transportation.

As construction moves forward, SacRT and its partners continue working to connect communities, strengthen mobility, and shape the city’s future.
