RVNL to announce tender for new trains for Kolkata Metro

RVNL will be putting out a $102M Kolkata Metro train tender that covers design, assembly, testing and integration of CBTC and the commissioning of 10 trainsets for new metro lines.

Tender and contract conditions
Indian company Rail Vikas Nigam Limited is to open bidding on October 29. The process is to conclude on November 4. The contract also includes CBTC integration for two new sections on Line 6.

The tender shall be permissible for joint ventures without allowing consortium participation. The work shall be finished within 30 months and shall therefore entail fast project development.
Status quo von Kolkata Metro
The current Kolkata Metro consists of a total of five lines and 58 stations. Maximum speed is 100 km/h, but the rolling stock fleet is limited in capacity.
Presently, 59 trains of four distinct varieties are in service, and they were manufactured by CRRC, ICF, BEML, Medha Servo Drives, Bharat Heavy Electricals, and Knorr-Bremse. Meanwhile, new acquisitions should improve network reliability.
