Russian Railways gives a discount on grain transportation to ports
Russian Railways will provide a 38% discount on transportation of grain and leguminous crops to the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin in wagons from March 1 to July 31 of this year for a distance of up to 400 km, informs Railway Supply magazine referring to “Gudok”.
In 2020, due to the introduction of a similar tariff, the volume of grain transportation in competitive directions exceeded the level of the year before last by more than 2 times.
In general, in 2020, the growth rate of loading for export through ports on the Russian Railways network accelerated to 4.7% (from 3.6% in 2019). At the end of last year, the export volume reached 331.7 million tons. In the overall structure of cargo traffic, the share of grain was 3.4%.
