“In October, the load of imports from the ports of the Far East is growing by 18% by 2021. With a high loading of the railway, the transportation of containers in gondola cars has become an effective technological solution,” the report says.

For this, 5 loading points were specially organized on the Far Eastern Railway.

“We will continue to improve the technology and thank all cargo owners and operators who have already connected to it. We predict that by the end of the year the imbalance between imports and exports will increase. We continue the well-established scheme for transporting containers in gondola cars for 2023,” the Russian Railways said.

Recall that the practice of container transportation in rolling stock not intended for this purpose was resumed in the Russian Federation in 2021, after a ban on such transportation in 2014.

In general, according to the results of eight months of 2022, the container market of the Russian Federation decreased by 15.6%. RZD freight traffic has also been falling for several months in a row compared to last year.
