Russian railway operators plan to propose to the Russian government to temporarily lift the ban on the import of railway wheels from Ukraine into Russia. This is reported by the publication “Golos“.

The ban should be lifted against the backdrop of growing demand for cargo transportation. Now operators have begun to massively remove cars from repairs, so the lack of wheels can lead to a local shortage.

The lack of railroad wheels may also be exacerbated by the shutdown of the facilities of the main producers – the Vyksa plant of the United Metallurgical Company and Evraz NTMK of the Evraz group – for maintenance. We will remind that earlier the import of Ukrainian wheeled products fell under a complete ban, since it was included in the list of sanctioned products prohibited from import from Ukraine.
