Robbery Foiled by Railway Police on Visakha Express Train
29.06.2025
A planned robbery on the Visakha Super-Fast Express was disrupted after police fired warning shots to stop the attackers near Tammulachervu in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district around 3 a.m. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The train, en route from Bhubaneswar to Secunderabad, halted when two criminals pulled the chain in the S1 coach. GRP officers responded quickly, moving to detain them.

Suddenly, others from the gang hiding by the tracks hurled stones at the officers, forcing them to fire at least 10 rounds into the air. The gang fled under cover of darkness.
Passengers expressed relief, crediting the quick police response with preventing a major robbery. Authorities believe around seven individuals were involved in the attempted heist.
Recent Robbery Incidents Raise Security Alarms
Just two days earlier, criminals tried to loot the Visakha–Charlapalli Special train near Piduguralla. Again, police fired in the air, and the gang escaped without harming passengers.
On June 26, a separate gang targeted the Chamrajnagar–Tirupati Express near Siddampalli station. They tampered with the signal system to stop the train before robbing two sleeper coaches.
The robbers used flashlights to locate sleeping women wearing jewelry and stole gold chains weighing about 65 grams. Police raised the alarm, but the gang fled into nearby fields.
Robbery Gangs Suspected Across Andhra Pradesh Rail Lines
Investigators believe the criminals may be linked to larger organized gangs operating from Bihar and Maharashtra. These groups have recently intensified train attacks in the region.
Security agencies, including GRP, RPF, and local police, launched a joint operation to track down the suspects following this latest robbery attempt.
Increased patrolling and surveillance are being implemented across high-risk routes to protect passengers and deter further attacks. Railway officials have promised stricter enforcement and faster response coordination.
