04.10.2025
RMT has asked the Mayor of London to temporarily suspend the £700 million cleansing contract of TfL after union bosses think the procurement ambagious staff as well as thwarts meaningful debate about insourcing the services.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

RTM disagreements agreement protocol to Mayor
It accused the executives at Transport for London of providing infected advice. Leaders claimed their fears were verified by legal advice but insisted the Mayor should cease to re-tender so it could be fully investigated.

Eddie Dempsey, the union’s general secretary, claimed the City Hall was misled on options. He added that TfL hindered substantial appraisal, so staff continue exposed to unfair conditions under private contractors.
RMT demands straight work as well as changes
Officials of the union emphasized the point that outsourcing deprives cleaners of benefits like pensions. They desire direct employees and contended that insourcing would bring stability, fairness, and higher professional standards for the whole transport system of London.
It involves more than 2,000 employees. Due to the magnitude of the contract involved, the ruling will define employment practice as well as provide guidelines for future procurement of services in the capital city’s transport.
