Improvements to the Riedbahn Line

Germany’s critical Riedbahn line underwent extensive upgrades, including replacing 111 kilometers of track and modernizing 20 stations. These changes ensure smoother operations for long-distance and regional trains.

Riedbahn Line Upgrades and Investments

The €1.3 billion project replaced 152 points, 619 signals, and 383 catenary masts. Additionally, 15 kilometers of noise barriers and eight platforms were modernized to enhance passenger convenience.

Deutsche Bahn’s CEO, Richard Lutz, described the Riedbahn line as the “aorta” of Germany’s rail network. During construction, detour routes handled 20,000 trains covering over 1.5 million kilometers.
