Rail Bus: Features of the New Urban Transport

The prototype of this innovative bus was showcased at the World Government Summit (WGS). Its autonomous operation is powered by solar panels, making it entirely energy-efficient.

The new transport system is designed to accommodate 40 passengers, including 22 comfortable seating spots. The bus is 11.5 meters long and 2.9 meters high.

With a maximum speed of 100 km/h, it ensures fast and convenient travel. A dedicated network of ground routes will be established for its operation, tailored to support this innovative transport.

Urban Infrastructure Development with the Rail Bus

The project is being developed by the American startup RailBus in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The cost of a single unit is expected to be 20–30% lower than conventional alternatives.

The use of 3D printing technology helps reduce manufacturing costs and minimize environmental impact. It also enhances the efficiency of the city’s transport infrastructure.

Dubai is actively expanding its railway network. In December, authorities signed a contract worth 20.5 billion dirhams ($5.6 billion) with a consortium led by Turkey’s Mapa Group.

This project includes the construction of the 30-kilometer Blue Line metro, equipping it with rolling stock, and developing a new 64-kilometer tram line.

The “Green Spine” project aims to build 25 new tram stops, significantly improving passenger convenience. Currently, Dubai has only 11 tram stations.

Dubai continues to implement cutting-edge technologies in urban transport. These projects position the city as a global leader in sustainable and innovative transportation solutions.
