Energy-Efficient Technologies and Sustainable Development at the Depot
Each track features inspection pits, overhead cranes, and advanced lifting equipment. A diagnostic system for electrical components when engines are off enhances safety and shortens repair times. In addition, solar panels installed on the roof generate about 124,000 kWh annually, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
The Tysley Depot reconstruction is part of West Midlands Railway’s investment program valued at $1.15 billion, based on the current exchange rate (£1 ≈ $1.26). The initiative aims to modernize rolling stock and infrastructure to enhance passenger service quality.
Spencer Group completed the project on schedule and within budget. With this upgrade, Tysley Depot is now fully prepared to handle intensive operations, providing efficient train maintenance and supporting the sustainable growth of the regional rail network.
