Through a direct interchange with CPKC in Red Deer, RDR seamlessly integrates into the extensive North American freight-rail network, expanding connectivity and logistics for businesses. Its services include railcar storage, transloading, and switching, supporting diverse transportation needs efficiently.

Red Deer Railway Enhances Alberta’s Transportation Connectivity

The railway’s operations, managed by a dedicated team of 10 employees, cater primarily to Alberta’s thriving energy industry. RDR’s advanced logistics capabilities offer tailored solutions for businesses along its 43-mile route. Rick McLellan, president of G&W’s Canada operations, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering first- and last-mile services for Alberta’s growing Industrial Heartland. He highlighted that G&W’s experience in other provinces, including Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec, ensures reliable service tailored to unique business requirements.

“Our team is ready to help businesses find optimal rail-served locations and reach additional markets,” McLellan stated. “With access to the North American network, RDR can drive growth and enhance logistics efficiency.” He further noted that the railway’s flexible operations and personalized service plans align with the specific needs of regional industries. RDR’s focus remains on delivering value while fostering economic growth.

To commemorate the railway’s official launch, a celebration took place in Bentley, Alberta, attended by G&W and RDR employees, customers, and community leaders. Bentley Mayor Greg Rathjen and representatives from Alberta’s government, including Jason Nixon, Member of the Legislative Assembly, joined the event. Nixon praised RDR’s potential to create local jobs, enhance connectivity, and provide critical support for regional businesses.

“The inauguration of Red Deer Railway marks a pivotal milestone for Alberta’s community and economy,” Nixon remarked. “This project will open new doors for local businesses while strengthening regional transportation infrastructure.” His comments underscored the government’s support for initiatives fostering economic resilience and development.

G&W’s extensive portfolio extends beyond Canada, encompassing over 100 freight railroads across North America. The company operates more than 13,000 track miles and employs 4,000 professionals who serve 2,000 customers.
