Railway workers in Germany have declared a week-long strike
24.01.2024
The strike, initiated by Deutsche Bahn employees affiliated with the German Locomotive Drivers’ Union (GDL), is set to last until 6:00 pm on Monday, January 29, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
DB Cargo employees will cease work on Tuesday, January 23, at 6:00 pm, while infrastructure workers will join the strike on Wednesday, January 24, at 2:00 am.
ZTR telematics will be implemented on the GATX freight car fleet in North America
The strike is in response to DB’s third proposal during negotiations, which GDL finds unsatisfactory, prompting renewed calls for protests.
GDL is advocating for a reduction in weekly working hours from 38 to 35 without a decrease in wages, along with a €555 monthly wage increase and inflation compensation.
A previous strike occurred from January 9 to 12, affecting not only DB and GDL but also other unrelated companies.
