Railway Ministry Approves Key Survey to Boost Saurashtra Connectivity

Railway Ministry has approved the final survey for a 45-kilometer rail line between Saradiya and Wansjaliya to improve connectivity and support industrial, social, and economic development in the Saurashtra region. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Officials believe this new route will integrate Saurashtra more closely with the national railway network. It will enhance travel for passengers and speed up freight movement, providing long-term benefits for businesses and communities.

Railway Ministry Focuses on Regional Growth

Atul Kumar Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Bhavnagar Division, stated that the project will serve as a strategic corridor. It will also boost tourism by improving access to pilgrimage sites such as Girnar, Somnath, and Dwarka.

The rail line is expected to become a vital alternative route linking Somnath, Dwarka, Okha, and Porbandar. Improved travel options will reduce congestion on existing routes and help maintain smoother operations across the network.

Railway Ministry Enhances Network Efficiency

Saradiya is located in Junagadh district’s Manavadar taluka, while Wansjaliya is in Jamnagar district, around 34 kilometers from Porbandar. Wansjaliya station already handles passenger and express trains, which will simplify future integration.

In addition to connectivity gains, the line promises economic advantages. Faster freight logistics can lower transport costs for local industries, while better passenger services can drive mobility, attract investments, and support urban-rural economic balance.

The project reflects India’s broader push to strengthen its railway backbone. By creating efficient routes and reducing bottlenecks, the initiative aims to support sustainable growth and improve accessibility across key regions of the country.
