Railway 200 Exhibition Train Brings History and Innovation to Life

The Railway 200 Exhibition Train started its nationwide journey to celebrate two centuries of British rail history, offering families an engaging experience at more than 60 locations across the UK. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This traveling exhibition marks the bicentenary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the world’s first modern rail line. It combines historical milestones with future innovations, making it both educational and inspiring for visitors of all ages.

The train features four themed carriages, each showcasing a different aspect of rail. Railway Firsts highlights pioneering achievements, while Wonderlab on Wheels brings interactive science and engineering experiences to children.

DG8’s Role in the Railway 200 Exhibition Train
DG8, Icomera’s design and engineering team, played a crucial part in bringing the concept to life. They transformed British Rail Mark 3 coaches into immersive spaces, delivering detailed designs and overseeing installations for the year-long exhibition.
Mike Mortimer, DG8 Director, emphasized the event’s significance, calling it an opportunity to reflect on achievements and prepare for the next 200 years. He hopes it will inspire future generations to pursue careers in the rail sector.
Emma Roberts, Railway 200 Programme Manager, described the train as a national attraction that will entertain, educate, and spark interest in rail innovation. She believes it will reshape public perception and ignite passion for this vital industry.
