Rail Modernization Summit

23 – 24 March, New Delhi, India

Indian Railways is among the world’s largest rail network with a network route length spread over 67,956 kms, with 13,169 passenger trains and 8,479 freight trains, catering to 23 million travellers and 3 million tonnes (MT) of freight daily from 7,349 stations. India’s railway network is recognised as one of the largest railway systems in the world under single management.

While the modernization & expansion work on upgrade at many metro & railway stations has begun, work at some of the others will begin soon, the investment is being made in improving passenger experience and revenues. Underling the importance of evolving with technology, the Railway Minister recently said that technology is the only input which can significantly impact the future of the Railways.

Metro Lite and Metro Neo have become the new buzzword for smaller cities across India to augment public transport as cheaper alternatives to conventional metro rail. The Union Govt. in India had stated that Metro Lite and Metro Neo will be deployed to provide metro rail systems at much lesser cost with same experience, convenience and safety in Tier-2 cities & peripheral areas of Tier-1 cities. While, It is had been estimated that while the cost to construct a conventional metro rail would be be Rs: 222 crore per km, a Metro Lite, which resembles a tramway, costs Rs: 140 crore per km, and Metro Neo, which is more like an electric trolleybus, costs Rs: 71 crore per km. Thane, Gorakhpur, Jammu, Srinagar, and Coimbatore administrations are in talks with the Centre to get these modes of transport apart from Nashik which has already approved Metro Neo. Public Investment Board recently cleared Nasik Metro Neo Project proposal worth of Rs: 2,092 Crores, this project will be implemented for the first time in India in Nasik & it has 2 corridors with a network of 33Km with 30 stations.

We will be hosting the 2nd Annual Rail Modernization Summit on the 23rd & 24th March 2023 Vivanta Dwarka – New Delhi. This summit aims to gather more than 300+ government representatives, ministries, metro authorities, railway board, municipalities and global rail innovators with the motto of modernizing the Indian Rail Transport.
