Rail Cargo Hungaria has introduced a railway solution to transport steel wire from Ukraine to Hungary.

Rail Cargo Hungaria Improves Freight Logistics and Environmental Impact

Previously, steel wire was delivered to Ózd’s metallurgical plant by trucks traveling 180 kilometers through several towns. This method caused noise pollution, environmental harm, and infrastructure damage due to heavy vehicle loads.

To address these challenges, Rail Cargo Hungaria developed a specialized loading system for steel wire transport. The solution uses wide-gauge railways to transfer freight from Ukraine to Fényeslitke.

Rail Cargo Hungaria Adopts Advanced Transport Technologies

Once in Fényeslitke, the wire is loaded onto standard railway wagons for further transportation. Freight trains carry the wagons to logistics hubs, where they are sorted and sent to their destination.

At Miskolc, freight trains are directed toward Ózd Central Station by local cargo services. This method replaces 20 truck trips with a single rail shipment of 250–300 tons.

The innovative approach by Rail Cargo Hungaria reduces emissions and simplifies freight transport, offering a sustainable alternative. It also helps minimize road wear and lowers environmental stress on affected areas.

Future Developments from Rail Cargo Hungaria

Rail Cargo Hungaria remains committed to enhancing freight logistics by adopting environmentally friendly transport solutions. The company is actively developing new initiatives for improved efficiency.

Recently, Rail Cargo Hungaria announced a project focused on transporting wheelsets, further diversifying its logistics capabilities. This aligns with its mission to reduce dependence on road transportation.
