Construction crews kicked off the bridge project in February 2024 with enthusiasm. They installed two piers on the right bank, starting at Lastādijas Street.
Next, workers erected a pier in the river and linked it with a span. This span stretches across General Radziņa Embankment, connecting all three piers efficiently.
In this phase, engineers successfully raised a 140-metre-long span using innovative techniques. They utilized 117 kilometers of cables and poured 4,473 cubic meters of concrete.
Interestingly, this project introduces the balanced cantilever method to the Baltic region. Besix proudly notes that they completed this phase a month ahead of schedule.
Now, the first river pier joins the riverbank structures, restoring traffic flow smoothly. Vehicles move freely beneath the bridge, connecting the city center and beyond.
Rail Baltica Boosts Regional Connectivity
These steps finalize the current phase and prepare for future construction efforts. The bridge sets the stage for this transformative railway project’s next milestones.
Looking ahead, Besix plans to build piers and a span from Zaķusala soon. However, progress depends on securing funding and setting construction priorities clearly.
The ambitious railway project strengthens connectivity and boosts economic growth significantly. Besix’s early success highlights their expertise and dedication to this initiative.
Experts anticipate that the completed bridge will enhance transportation across the Daugava River. Travelers and businesses alike will benefit from improved rail access in Latvia.
Rail Baltica Moves Forward with Innovation
Meanwhile, the Bererix consortium continues collaborating to meet ambitious project goals. Their efforts ensure that the railway advances steadily toward full completion.
Funding remains a critical factor, yet optimism surrounds future phases of development. Stakeholders eagerly await updates on financial support and construction timelines.
Besix’s innovative approach and timely execution inspire confidence in the project’s success. The bridge over the Daugava River symbolizes progress for Latvia and beyond.
Each milestone brings this railway closer to revolutionizing travel in the Baltic region. Besix stands at the forefront, driving this monumental effort with skill and dedication.
