Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given full approval for both the Bullet Train project and the establishment of Punjab’s first provincial airline, “Air Punjab.”
To ensure rapid progress, the government has decided to lease four Airbus aircraft for the initial domestic operations of “Air Punjab.” After a successful one-year period, the airline will expand internationally, targeting major global destinations to boost connectivity.
Bullet Train Project Receives Green Light from Punjab Government
Officials presented a detailed plan for the Bullet Train during a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. The project discussions included potential collaborations with Pakistan Railways and the exploration of a Public-Private Partnership model to maximize efficiency and investment.
Maryam Nawaz has appointed Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb to coordinate efforts between Punjab authorities and Pakistan Railways. Her leadership aims to ensure that the project maintains transparency, speed, and international standards throughout its development phases.
In addition to the Lahore-Rawalpindi line, the Chief Minister ordered feasibility studies for six more high-speed routes across Punjab. Proposed corridors include:
- Lahore to Shahdara and Narowal, enhancing regional commuting options.
- Lahore through Raiwind, Kasur, and Pakpattan to Lodhran, linking key southern towns.
- Sheikhupura and Jaranwala to Shorkot, creating better industrial connectivity.
- Shorkot to Jhang, and onward to Sargodha, improving access to major cities.
- Lala Musa to Sargodha via Mandi Bahauddin, supporting rural and urban integration.
- Faisalabad to Chak Jhumra and Shahinabad, boosting economic trade corridors.
These additional routes reflect Punjab’s broader ambition to modernize its transportation network and stimulate regional development.
Air Punjab and Bullet Train to Revolutionize Provincial Travel
The Chief Minister instructed that all possible measures be taken to make “Air Punjab” the best airline in the country. So, strict quality standards and service benchmarks have already been outlined.
Launching the Bullet Train alongside a provincial airline signals a major commitment to infrastructure modernization. Punjab is setting a new standard for regional development, promoting faster travel and greater accessibility for its citizens.
