Progress Rail Wabtec settlement: antitrust case settled

Progress Rail Wabtec settlement was announced on Feb. 26, 2026. Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, and Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) said they have reached an agreement in Progress Rail v. Wabtec, according to a Wabtec newsroom statement.

The companies said the antitrust case settlement is in the best interest of both firms, customers, and consumers. They also noted there is no admission of liability.

In the same statement, the companies acknowledged that they have been and remain suppliers of long-haul freight locomotives and cab components to Class I Railroads and other customers. Also, those supply roles include Tier IV long-haul locomotives.

In addition, Progress Rail said it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. and positions itself as a provider of rolling stock, infrastructure, and advanced technologies for global rail customers. Separately, the company pointed to a technology portfolio that includes data analytics, automation, connected assets, predictive maintenance, and yard optimization tools. Progress Rail added that it is supported by Caterpillar and operates through a network of nearly 150 locations worldwide.
