How Businesses Can Promote Train Travel for a Sustainable Future

Construction will focus on the Missão Velha — Pecém and Eliseu Martins — Trindade sections. The entire Eliseu Martins — Pecém railway is set for completion by 2028, with partial operations starting in 2027.

Why Project Transnordestina is Essential for Brazil’s Economic Growth?

Launched in 2006, Project Transnordestina remains one of Brazil’s largest infrastructure initiatives. So far, $1.3 billion has been invested, with another $1.2 billion required to finalize the project.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reinstated the previously excluded Salgueiro — Suape section, expanding the project’s scope. This addition will improve logistics for the northeastern region, fostering economic and industrial development.

The first phase of Project Transnordestina is planned for completion in 2027, with the second phase to follow by 2029. The railway will handle the transportation of grain, cement, fertilizers, ore, and fuel, supporting Brazil’s growing export needs.

Economic and Logistical Benefits of Project Transnordestina

This new funding will enhance connectivity between industrial centers and export hubs, boosting Brazil’s economic potential. The project plays a vital role in modernizing the country’s transport infrastructure and improving logistics efficiency.

Completion of Project Transnordestina will strengthen Brazil’s position in global trade while supporting sustainable regional growth.
