Reconstruction of the 10-kilometer section from Domažlice to the German border will increase train speeds to 115 km/h.
The Babylon station will be equipped with barrier-free access and high platforms, providing convenient boarding and alighting for passengers.
At the Česká Kubice station, conditions will be created to accommodate freight trains up to 740 meters long.
The modernization project of the line from Plzeň to Domažlice and the Czech-German border includes the construction of a double-track section Plzeň — Stod, as well as the upgrade of the existing section from Plzeň through Nýřany to Chotěšov.
The maximum speed of trains on the new sections of the Plzeň — Domažlice line will reach 200 km/h.
The Domažlice station will undergo complete reconstruction, increasing the line’s capacity.
The non-stop journey from Domažlice to Plzeň will take a maximum of 30 minutes, and with intermediate stops, 45 minutes.
The project development of the Plzeň — Domažlice — Germany border line is co-financed by the European Union from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) fund.
EU financial support will cover 85% of the planned costs, with a maximum subsidy amount of 8,681,597 euros, roughly equivalent to 221.2 million crowns.
The remaining funding will be provided by the Czech State Transport Infrastructure Fund.
This project will improve transport connections between the Czech Republic and southern regions of Germany.
