An important requirement is barrier-free boarding through six doors on each side.
The qualification stage will conclude on February 2, 2024, with the winner announced in early 2025.
DB plans active collaboration with the winner, especially if technical solutions don’t fully meet their requirements.
Technical specifications were developed in collaboration with Alstom and Siemens, allowing for ambitious yet realistic criteria.
Train prototypes are expected for testing in 2031, replacing current high-speed ICE 1 and ICE 3 expresses from 2032 to 2034.
