Applications are already open for the ‘Women in Rail Transport Award’ for 2024, which is set to be presented at the Innotrans exhibition in Berlin in September, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Women in Rail Transport Award 2024

Despite women accounting for over 50% of railway passengers, they make up only about 20% of the railway workforce in the EU.

To promote fairness and equality, the European Commission’s platform ‘Women in Transport,’ the European Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail), the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER), the European Rail Industry Association (UNIFE), and the European Federation of Train Drivers’ Unions (ALE) have come together to establish the ‘Women in Rail Transport Award 2024,’ celebrating outstanding women in the industry.

Ensuring fairness, diversity, and equality in the workplace is crucial for building a more inclusive and dynamic culture in the railway sector.

That’s why the ‘Women in Rail Transport Award 2024’ will recognize remarkable and inspiring women and their achievements in the railway sector.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in Berlin at the European InnoTrans stand.

Candidates can apply for one of the three award categories by May 31, 2024.

Interested candidates can apply for one of the three award categories by completing the EU survey form by May 31, 2024.
