As part of the cooperation with the Chinese corporation CRRC, the first shunting locomotives were received ahead of schedule, indicating a high level of interaction and trust between the partners.

These locomotives feature improved design and traction parameters.

Their design takes into account the harsh climatic conditions of Kazakhstan: they can operate in a temperature range from -40°C to +50°C, making them indispensable for use in various regions of the country.

Each locomotive weighs 135 tons, ensuring high efficiency and reliability in operation.

The diesel generator units of the locomotives meet modern environmental standards, aligning with Kazakhstan’s commitment to sustainable development and reducing negative environmental impacts.

This is particularly important in the context of global climate change and the need to transition to cleaner technologies.

The framework agreement between CRRC and Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), concluded in October 2023, provides for the delivery of 100 shunting and 100 mainline locomotives, totaling approximately $1.3 billion.

The first four locomotives, intended for certification, were expected by the end of the year but arrived ahead of schedule, highlighting the promptness and responsibility of the Chinese manufacturer.

The ceremony at the Altynkol station was a significant event for Kazakhstan’s railway sector.

The introduction of new locomotives will not only improve the quality of railway transportation but also enhance the overall efficiency of the country’s transport system.

This, in turn, will contribute to economic development, improve logistics, and strengthen connections between various regions of Kazakhstan.

The new locomotives supplied by CRRC are a vivid example of successful international cooperation and the implementation of advanced technologies.

They are set to become the foundation for further modernization and development of Kazakhstan’s railway infrastructure, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the entire transport sector of the country.

Thus, the early delivery of CRRC shunting locomotives to Kazakhstan demonstrates the high efficiency and reliability of cooperation between the two countries, as well as their commitment to technological progress and sustainable development.

The introduction of these locomotives will be an important step towards improving railway transportation and enhancing the comfort and safety for all participants in the transport process.
