The project aims to redirect a substantial portion of international export cargo from road transport to railways, thereby reducing pressure on road networks and minimizing environmental impact.

Support for the project was garnered following consultations with the public and representatives of indigenous peoples, resulting in improvements to the landscape design of surrounding areas.

Peter Xotta, CEO of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, remarked, “The new railway overpass will enhance the reliability and resilience of our port, promoting trade development and delivering significant benefits to the local community in Burnaby.”

The Holdom Project construction, scheduled for completion by late 2024, represents a key step in enhancing the Burnaby railway corridor and is a crucial element of Canada’s sustainable economic development strategy.
