Haifa Bay Port Receives Direct Connection to Israel’s Rail Network
10.04.2025
At the end of March 2025, Haifa Bay Port was connected to Israel’s railway network. The new line opened five months ahead of the originally planned schedule. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The 5-kilometer railway link provides the freight terminal with a stable rail connection to inland regions. This significantly accelerates delivery times and streamlines cargo distribution.

The terminal is equipped with four tracks totaling 3 kilometers in length. This layout allows up to three freight trains to be handled simultaneously without delays.
Israel Railways and Israel Ports Company delivered the project under the Gulf Port Connections program. The initiative included modern signaling, communication, and full train traffic control systems.
New roads were also built to connect the port directly with highways No. 75 and No. 6. These connections have substantially improved freight transport accessibility.
Gadish managed the infrastructure execution while maintaining tight control over timing and budget. As a result, the project was completed well ahead of schedule.
Total investment in infrastructure reached approximately $319 million, with $19.7 million allocated specifically to the railway section.
Haifa Bay Port Becomes Part of Israel’s Logistics Network
The new railway link strengthens the port’s position in both domestic and international logistics. It also helps reduce transportation costs for major shipping companies.
This additional rail access relieves pressure on highways and supports sustainable infrastructure development. This is increasingly vital as container transport volumes grow.
How the Project Improves Access to Haifa Bay Port?
Israel’s Ministry of Transport highlighted the project as part of a broader strategy to integrate seaports with railway networks. Similar developments are planned nationwide.
Israel Ports Company noted that advanced technologies now streamline freight management. This boosts the competitiveness of Israeli logistics on a global scale.
Comprehensive infrastructure development opens new opportunities for businesses while reducing costs. Faster delivery makes Israel a more attractive logistics hub.
The project reflects strong collaboration between government bodies and private contractors. Its successful implementation sets a positive precedent for future national infrastructure projects.
