Pomona–Claremont light rail extension: Parsons wins contract
17.02.2026
The Pomona–Claremont light rail extension is moving forward. Parsons secured a contract for design and engineering services. In addition, the work covers the next stage of the Foothill Gold Line project. It is in eastern Los Angeles County, as Railway Supply previously covered.

Meanwhile, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority awarded the contract to Parsons Transportation Group. It is a six-year agreement valued at 60 million USD. The award followed a competitive procurement process. Also, the scope covers design and engineering work. It is for a 2.3-mile LA Metro A Line extension from Pomona to Claremont, as noted in a Parsons statement.

Plans for the LA Metro A Line extension would bring light rail service to Claremont. Claremont is about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. It sits at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. The area includes a walkable town centre. It also has several college campuses.

Parsons awarded contract for design and engineering work
Parsons was selected for technical capability, qualifications and interview performance. A company representative said the firm has supported design teams. That work has covered multiple phases of the Foothill Gold Line programme. It has done so over the past 25 years.
Foothill Gold Line project progress and remaining sections
Separately, the Construction Authority reports that 23 of the 25 planned stations are completed. They are along the Foothill Gold Line corridor. The line links central Los Angeles with communities further east. The Pomona to Claremont segment is among the remaining sections still in development.
