Poland plans to build a railway terminal for 22 million euros

A new terminal for combined transport is planned to be built in the Polish village of Karsznice, Lodz Voivodeship.
PKP Cargo Terminale (a subsidiary of PKP Cargo) has signed a letter of intent from Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) and its subsidiary Betrans to assist in the creation of the new facility.
The new terminal is expected to handle most of the traffic on the New Silk Road. Since the village of Karšnice is located at the intersection of two important freight lines connecting north and south and crossing east and west, and the S8 motorway lies nearby.

PKP Cargo hopes to build one of the largest transshipment terminals in Poland here. The new facility is expected to cover an area of 23 hectares and be equipped with 2 railway cranes and 9 sidings, an unloading and storage area and related infrastructure.
The capacity of warehouse space will reach 4.5 thousand TEU, and the capacity will be 220 thousand TEU per year. Almost PLN 100 million (approximately EUR 22 million) will be spent on the construction, PLN 4.6 million of which will come from European Union funds.
As previously reported, the DCT Gdansk terminal has expanded its railway infrastructure.
