Plasser & Theurer: Advanced Technology for Egypt’s Railway Modernization

Egypt’s Ministry of Transport has signed a contract with Plasser & Theurer for railway modernization. The National Authority for Tunnels in Egypt ordered 14 advanced machines to maintain the rail infrastructure. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The contract includes five types of specialized track maintenance machines, each with unique functions and capabilities. Among them, four 09-2X/SD tamping machines can process two sleepers simultaneously, improving efficiency. These machines operate continuously, reducing maintenance time and enhancing productivity for railway operations.
Innovative Solutions from Plasser & Theurer to Boost Efficiency
Two 08-4×4/4S universal tamping machines are designed for complex tasks at switches and crossings. They deliver high precision and reliability, making them essential in challenging conditions. Additionally, the deal includes five USP 2005 machines for ballast leveling and even distribution along the tracks.

The contract also features two RM 80-750 cleaning machines equipped with systems to control the tracks’ transverse slope. These machines streamline cleaning and maintenance operations for switches and crossings. The final delivery includes the mobile and efficient APT 1500 RA rail welding machine.
All machines come equipped with Datamatic 2.0 software, enabling efficient maintenance planning and execution. This technology optimizes costs and extends the lifespan of Egypt’s railway infrastructure. By integrating modern solutions, Plasser & Theurer ensures reliability and durability.
