The Polish railway operator PKP Intercity has signed a contract with H. Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych from Poznań for the delivery of 300 passenger carriages, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The manufacturer won the tender earlier this spring. The contract includes an option for an additional supply of 150 carriages.

Under the terms of the contract, PKP Intercity will acquire 198 second-class carriages, 38 first-class carriages, 38 restaurant carriages, and 26 sleeping carriages.

The total value of the deal is 4.23 billion zloty (approximately 1 billion euros).

If the option is exercised, the cost of the additional carriages will be 2.12 billion zloty (about 505 million euros).

The first carriages are expected to be delivered in early 2026, with the final carriage scheduled for delivery by 2030.

The new trains will service routes between major Polish cities, including Warsaw, Poznań, Kraków, Szczecin, Wrocław, and Gdynia.

There is also provision for operating trains beyond the country’s borders on routes such as Warsaw – Berlin and Gdynia – Prague.
