Polish company Pesa is completing the assembly of the first Twist tram destined for the city of Wrocław, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This three-section, six-axle tram, fully low-floor and 27 meters long, is capable of accommodating up to 200 passengers.

It is expected that after testing and certification, the new tram will be put into operation by the end of spring this year.

The feature of Twist trams is their articulated bogies, reducing the impact on the railway track.

They are also equipped with supercapacitors, which allow for energy accumulation during recuperation and its use for traction on de-energized sections of the network.

According to the contract signed in 2021, with a value of 204 million zlotys (€47 million), Pesa is obligated to deliver 24 such trams by January 2025, with a possible additional order for 16 units.

Twist trams are in demand not only in the domestic market but also beyond its borders.

In addition to Wrocław, these trams are exported to the cities of Tallinn and Krakow.

This confirms the growing interest in innovative and energy-efficient solutions in urban transport offered by Pesa.
