The Blue Line section is of 4.3 kilometers from Patliputra Inter-State Bus Terminal to Bhoodanath with an intermediate stop at Zero Mile. It is constructed on an elevated viaduct, with the standards-gauge 1,435-millimeter tracks for compatibility and steadiness.
Currently, operating the turnkey project is a three-car Alstom trainset leased from Pune Metro, giving commuters faster, cleaner, and quieter travel. The authorities aim to extend the line into Malahi Pakri, finishing the 6.1-kilometer priority section that lays the ground for a citywide system.
When the entire Blue Line is in full swing in 2027–28, it will run for 14.6 kilometers with 12 stations, including underground, joining ISBT in the east with Patna Junction in the west. Authorities claim that the extension would reduce congestion and fortify local businessman links.
Patna Metro Reinforces Economic and Ecological Objectives
Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL) called the project a “dream realized,” underscoring that it would help create a cleaner and wiser city. The company pointed out that the project would make cities cleaner and reduce traffic emissions by making public transport more reliable.
Chief Minister Kumar said that the system would foster investment, create employment opportunities, and boost usability for citizens. Chief Minister Kumar further said that sustainable transport aligns with the state’s mission for contemporary infrastructure and green development.
Patna Metro possesses Blue as well as Red Lines. The Red Line, currently being constructed, is a 16.9-kilometer stretch with 14 Stations from Khemnichak to Danapur Cantonment. Both lines combined shall redefine Bihar’s transport landscape as well as link residential as well as business hubs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the metro project in 2019, with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as consultant and cost divided between the Bihar and Indian governments, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
