PATH ridership reached 5.2 million in April 2025, making it the second-busiest month since 2019 and showing strong growth in commuter traffic across New Jersey and New York. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Compared to April 2024, this marks an 11% increase in overall ridership. PATH also reported more than 200,000 weekly riders for the third time since early 2020, showing a 12% year-on-year gain.

During the first four months of 2025, PATH served 18.7 million passengers—7% more than in the same period last year. This steady rise in PATH ridership reflects regional recovery and growing transit demand.
PATH ridership recovery continues into early 2025
PATH, operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, remains the critical link between Manhattan and New Jersey’s urban and suburban areas. It supports thousands of daily commuters and boosts regional connectivity.
As travel patterns stabilize, PATH ridership continues to trend upward. The system’s growth signals strong public confidence and increased reliance on commuter rail networks post-pandemic.
PATH ridership rises alongside Port Authority cargo volumes
In addition to passenger gains, the Port Authority handled 751,194 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in April 2025, up 6% from last year. Total TEUs for January through April reached nearly 3 million, a 9% increase.
Together, the freight and transit figures suggest a broader trend of infrastructure resilience. PATH ridership growth and rising cargo traffic confirm that the region is regaining economic momentum.
