Station Expansion to Boost Passenger Traffic Nearly Threefold

A crucial part of the project is the modernization of St Pancras station, which serves high-speed trains. Currently, its capacity is 1,800 passengers per hour, but after upgrades, it will reach 5,000.

At present, the Eurostar operator already connects London with major European cities. These include Paris, Lille, Brussels, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam, with new routes planned.

New Routes and Companies Interested in the Project

Passengers will be able to travel faster to major cities in Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland. The new routes will include Frankfurt, Cologne, Bordeaux, Milan, and Geneva, providing convenient connections.

The Eurostar company is already developing new routes and considering network expansion. Interest in the project has also been expressed by Deutsche Bahn, Renfe, Evolyn, and Heurotrain, which plan to use the tunnel.

This project aligns with the European Commission’s strategy for railway transport development. The EU supports initiatives aimed at creating a unified high-speed rail network.

The project has already been included in the EU’s list of priority initiatives. It will soon be proposed for funding from the European Union budget.
