Pacific Surfliner reservations as World Cup rush builds
04.06.2026
Pacific Surfliner reservations will be required as Amtrak prepares for heavier World Cup travel in Los Angeles. From June 11 through July 19, every passenger on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner services must have a reservation, and officials are encouraging soccer fans to book before demand increases.

Pacific Surfliner reservations reshape match travel
The temporary rule is intended to help manage ridership during World Cup matches and related fan events in Southern California, as outlined in the official Pacific Surfliner World Cup travel updates. It applies across Pacific Surfliner services, while passengers traveling through Los Angeles Union Station can connect with Metro for the trip to SoFi Stadium.
The rail service will also add late-night trains from Los Angeles on June 12, 13, 15 and 25 to help fans get home after games. On those dates, selected departures from Union Station will carry travelers south toward San Diego and north toward Santa Barbara.
Extra trains and Fan Zone access
Pacific Surfliner will add a stop at Burbank-Downtown on July 18 and 19. The added stop is meant to improve access to the final weekend of the Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone.
The Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone at Union Station is scheduled for June 25-28. It will include live match screenings, watch parties and other fan activities, with the station serving as a key point for both rail travel and World Cup events.
Fare offer covers Los Angeles trips
A fare promotion is also tied to the travel period. Through July 15, passengers going to and from Los Angeles can receive a 20% discount on coach and business-class fares under a partnership with the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board.
LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency Managing Director Jason Jewell said the event is among the most significant Southern California has hosted in years. He said the agency wants fans traveling from San Diego, Orange County and the Central Coast to have a strong experience from the moment they board the train.
Officials also said codeshare and Rail 2 Rail services will be suspended on selected high-demand dates in June and July. As previously covered by Railway Supply, Pacific Surfliner operates over a 351-mile corridor connecting San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
