During Trako, the locomotive’s inaugural journey took place on the Gdynia – Hel route as part of operational tests.

This is another investment as part of the ORLEN Group’s hydrogen strategy, which involves the use of hydrogen in rail transport and public transit.

EP07 locomotives in need of repair

By 2030, the company plans to allocate 7.4 billion PLN for investments in hydrogen technologies based on renewable energy sources and waste-to-hydrogen conversion technology.

The shunting locomotive powered by a hydrogen engine will eventually operate on the railway tracks of the production plant in Płock. Testing of the locomotive is now underway.

The first journey took place on the Gdynia – Hel route. The agreement between ORLEN and PESA Bydgoszcz also includes a 4-year service package, which will encompass standard checks and potential repairs.

The locomotive’s tank capacity is more than five times larger, allowing it to operate 24 hours a day.

The traction system of the locomotive includes two fuel cells with a power output of 85 kW each, a battery, and four traction motors.
