Orbital Rail to Transform Connectivity Between Haryana, UP, and Noida Airport
09.02.2025
A new Orbital Rail project will soon enhance connectivity between Greater Noida, Dadri, Meerut, Baghpat, and Jewar Airport. This high-speed line will significantly reduce travel times across northern states. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Orbital Rail: A Game-Changer for Regional Mobility
Planned under the Master Plan 2041, the Orbital Rail will run parallel to the Delhi Eastern Peripheral Expressway. It will connect Haryana to Uttar Pradesh through Greater Noida Phase II, linking Baghpat and Noida International Airport. This route will provide a seamless transit link between these regions, benefiting thousands of daily travelers.

The rail corridor will stretch 135 kilometers, with an 87-kilometer section in Uttar Pradesh. Trains will operate at speeds of 160 km/h, enabling passengers to complete the full journey in just one hour. The project focuses on improving access for residents of Greater Noida, Dadri, and Phase II, ensuring direct connections to Haryana, Meerut, and Baghpat.
Economic Growth and Industrial Boost with Orbital Rail
This development will eliminate the need to travel to Delhi for railway connections, benefiting daily commuters. The new track will integrate with major Indian Railways routes, such as Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Rohtak, and Delhi-Ambala. Residents of Greater Noida and surrounding districts will gain direct access to long-distance train services.
The total investment for the project is ₹11,000 crore, highlighting its importance in regional infrastructure. The railway will support both passenger and freight transport, with freight trains reaching speeds of 100 km/h. This will enhance trade and logistics, making freight movement more efficient.
Additionally, the Orbital Rail will link key logistics hubs, including the Multi-Modal Logistics Transport Hub and the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub. This connection will integrate the rail line with the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, improving industrial supply chains.
By reducing congestion on Delhi’s roads and railway networks, this project will stimulate economic development. With the Noida International Airport set to open this April, the new railway will further boost regional trade and connectivity.
