The service will link the Melzo railway hub east of Milan with the BILK terminal in Budapest and the Arad terminal in Curtici.

The plan includes two weekly journeys in one direction with a transit time of approximately 48 hours.

“Eurogate Intermodal will handle traction in Hungary and Romania, while Oceanogate will manage the Italian route,” explained Hannibal. The service is expected to be operational by the end of the year.

As noted by Contship’s Sales and Business Development Manager Andrea Spagnuolo, the main advantage of this initiative will be related to traffic from Turkey.

In other words, the Curtici terminal will become a hub for Turkish goods destined for Italy.
