The locomotive’s propulsion consists of a 400 kW hydrogen fuel cell stack and 600 kW battery packs, enabling it to transport 1,000 tons over approximately 400 km.

Equipped with a gas detection system and automatic gas supply shutdown, it is set to commence commercial operations in the second half of 2024.

This initiative aligns with FCAB’s plan to completely phase out diesel locomotives, currently operating 83 American EMD and GE locomotives.

In 2021, CRRC unveiled its first hydrogen-battery shunting locomotive with a power of 700 kW.
