Slovak railway company restricted the transit of coal from the Russian Federation
01.02.2022
The initiator of a temporary ban on the transportation of coal from Russia to the Slovak station Ganiska near Kosice was the cargo division of the Slovak railway company (ZSSK Cargo).

This is written by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the UZ website.
It should be noted that since January 24, UZ has limited the transportation of coal from the Russian Federation to Slovakia.
As the press service noted, the Slovak colleagues simultaneously sent a telegram with a notification of a temporary ban on such transportation to JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and JSC Russian Railways (RZD).
The reason for the ban was a statement by US Steel Kosice without detailing its content.
UZ will ban the transportation of coal from Russia to Slovakia
“JSC Ukrzaliznytsia immediately complied with the demand of the Slovak colleagues, as required by international rules and signed agreements. Such restrictions have been introduced before, colleagues have repeatedly limited the shipment of raw materials for the metallurgical industry, taking into account certain operational tasks,” the UZ said.
The resumption of coal supplies to the Ganiska station is scheduled for January 28. Relevant information has already appeared on the UZ website.
As previously reported, since January 1, two conventions have been in force for the transportation of iron ore concentrate from Ukraine and Russia to Slovakia, to the US Steel Kosice steel mill.
They are currently cancelled. The most resonant today is the issue of the abolition of conventions for transportation to Poland.
