The total queue of wagons at the western border crossings as of the morning of October 11 amounted to 14.6 thousand units. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Rail.insider.

The reduction in the queue is not due to an increase in the transfer of wagons across the border, but to the reorientation of grain cargo to seaports. The actual average daily transfer of goods through railway crossings in the first ten days of October decreased by 324 wagons compared to September 2022.

“A grain corridor was opened through the ports and, accordingly, the cargo went there. If there is no corridor, I am more than sure that the situation will return to what we had earlier this year,” says Vladimir Ruschak, director of the UZ traffic control department.

He also added that the reduction in cargo volumes is taking place against the backdrop of large-scale air alerts, when work at border stations is stopped.

“Yesterday and today we have very large-scale air alerts. Accordingly, during air raids, work is stopped. Yesterday we didn’t work until lunch, today it’s the same again,” Volodymyr Ruschak said.

The best situation with queues at crossings is with Moldova, where trains “stop only to change traction.”
