The Nymwag freight wagon plant in India has opened in Kolkata (India) through a joint venture involving the Czech company Nymwag and local Texmaco Rail & Engineering (Texrail), as reported by Railway Supply. The site plans to roll out its first open-top wagon by February 2026.

Construction and equipment at the Kolkata facility

Construction of the facility, with a usable area of 8,300 m², began in March 2024. The $15.6 million project was completed in October 2025. The plant is equipped with an automated metal-cutting system from Sweden’s ESAB, welding equipment from Austria’s Fronius, and other equipment made in India; these details were also cited by Railmarket.

What the Nymwag–Texrail plant will produce?

The production setup includes four lines. The planned output is up to 2,500 wagons per year. The product range includes open-top wagons, flatcars, tank cars and hoppers, as well as components for freight wagons.

Nymwag was founded in 2019. In late November 2025, Nymwag’s plant in Nymburk, Czech Republic, produced its 5,000th wagon. The Nymwag–Texmaco Rail & Engineering (Texrail) partnership was previously noted on the Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd. website.
