New RegioPanter Train Joins Slovak ZSSK Fleet

ZSSK has put a new RegioPanter train into service, built by Czech manufacturer Škoda Group under a contract for regional transport. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This train is the first of five four-car units ordered in 2023 as part of an option tied to the original 2021 agreement. The project was funded through Slovakia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The train will operate on routes in the Trnava and Banská Bystrica regions. ZSSK plans to add four more such units to its network by the end of 2025.
Škoda Group has already delivered 35 RegioPanter trains to Slovakia, including both three- and four-car versions. The final six units are expected by 2026.
Modern Features in RegioPanter Trains
The four-car RegioPanter measures 106 meters in length and offers 343 seats. It includes air conditioning, video surveillance, passenger information systems, power outlets, and USB ports.
There are dedicated areas for bicycles and strollers. Passengers also enjoy free Wi‑Fi access, enhancing comfort and the appeal of regional rail travel.
The trains operate on 3 kV DC and 25 kV AC power systems, with a top speed of 160 km/h.
RegioPanter Deliveries Strengthen Škoda’s Market Position
Between 2021 and 2022, ZSSK received 25 units as part of a large-scale fleet modernization effort.
Škoda Group continues to strengthen its position in Slovakia by offering reliable and energy-efficient train solutions. Demand for modern rolling stock in the region is steadily growing.
