NJ TRANSIT Moves Forward with New Rail Maintenance Facility Project

NJ TRANSIT has issued an RFQ for the design, construction, and commissioning of a new Northern Rail Maintenance-of-Way facility in Clifton, aiming to replace an outdated site and improve long-term operational reliability. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The upcoming facility will replace the flood-prone Wood-Ridge location, ensuring greater resilience and efficiency. NJ TRANSIT CEO Kris Kolluri noted that the initiative will enhance safety and support better service by maintaining equipment in top condition.

The project scope covers demolition and environmental cleanup at 99 Kuller Road, construction of three new buildings on NJ TRANSIT-owned sites, and improvements such as site grading, new access roads, and parking. NJ TRANSIT Sets Prequalification Standards
The RFQ introduces a Special Prequalification process to select top design-build teams. Evaluation will focus on technical skills, experience, and clear project strategies. Shortlisted firms will then advance to the RFP stage for detailed proposals.
