Newquay Station upgrades have received formal approval by the Office of Rail and Road, and the new construction will include a new platform, greater capacity and improved links for Cornwall’s growing Mid Cornwall Metro scheme.

Role of ORR and Network Rail
The ORR worked in close consultation with Network Rail and project partners to obtain approval. As such, the station’s capacity will be doubled from a single to two trains per hour, enabling major improved access for central Cornwall communities.
