Polish transport company Olavion, owned by Unimot Capital Group, signed a contract with Newag for 12 locomotives. This agreement aims to boost transportation capacity and strengthen infrastructure development.This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The deal, valued at 224.6 million zł, aligns with terms of the 2023 contract. That agreement allowed the purchase of up to 20 locomotives, providing flexibility for fleet expansion.

The initial order included four electric locomotives, and four more were added in early 2024. This new order enables Olavion to fully utilize its rights for additional purchases.

Newag Locomotives to Be Delivered in Phases

Newag will deliver locomotives in stages to minimize risks and ensure smooth implementation. The first two locomotives will arrive within 23 months after signing the contract.

Four additional units will be delivered by the end of 2027, boosting Olavion’s fleet capacity. Another four locomotives are expected by the end of 2028, ensuring consistent growth.

The final two locomotives will be delivered by the end of 2029, completing the agreement. This phased delivery plan allows Olavion to effectively integrate the equipment and improve operations.

Olavion Strengthens Fleet with Newag Cooperation

Currently, Olavion operates 21 electric locomotives and three shunting diesel locomotives. Expanding its fleet will enhance efficiency and improve competitiveness across European markets.

Olavion’s decision to purchase additional locomotives aligns with its modernization strategy and growth plans. These locomotives will increase transportation capacity and boost productivity.

The company continues to invest in its fleet, signing agreements with leading manufacturers for advanced equipment. Earlier, Olavion announced plans to buy four Newag Dragon locomotives, confirming its focus on innovation.

This cooperation with Newag strengthens Olavion’s position in the rail transport sector. New locomotives will streamline processes and support the company’s sustainable growth.
