Starting September 10, 2024, new-generation Nightjet trains, developed by Siemens Mobility, began operating on the Vienna — Rome and Munich — Rome routes.

These modern trains represent a new step in the development of rail connections between major European cities, providing passengers with a high level of comfort and safety.

The updated carriages were first presented in 2022, when ÖBB showcased the interiors of the new trains for the first time.

Before this, only renderings were available, which attracted widespread interest.

The first next-generation Nightjet train started carrying passengers in December 2023 on routes between Austria and Germany.

However, some services were canceled in the summer of 2024 due to railway maintenance in Germany, France, and Italy, temporarily reducing the availability of the service.

The new-generation trains consist of seven carriages and are designed to carry 254 passengers.

The train features two carriages with seating, one of which also houses the driver’s cabin.

Three carriages are equipped with four-person compartments and capsule mini-compartments, allowing travelers to choose a travel format that suits their needs.

For passengers seeking higher comfort, two comfort and comfort plus class carriages are available.

Tickets for the Vienna — Rome route are available at the discounted Sparschiene rate.

Prices start at €34.9 for a seat in a seated carriage, €54.9 for a place in a compartment or mini-compartment, and €99.9 in a comfortable compartment.

The new Nightjet trains promise to make traveling across Europe even more convenient, offering passengers a wide selection of seats and fares based on their preferences and budget.
