The first Evero trains (Class 807), consisting of seven cars, operate between London, Liverpool, Blackpool, and West Midlands.

Madrid Metro will purchase new trains to modernize Line 1 services

These electric trains are designed for 25 kV AC lines, enabling high-speed travel and efficient performance. Each train provides 453 seats, with 49 in first class and two spaces for passengers with disabilities.

Why the United Kingdom Chose Hitachi Rail Electric Trains

In 2019, First Trenitalia signed a €410 million contract to acquire these trains. This contract includes 10 fully electric trains (Class 807) and 13 hybrid trains (Class 805) that use both electric and diesel power. Built on the A-train platform, these trains reach speeds up to 200 km/h, meeting demands for speed and reliability. The new trains are set to replace the aging diesel-powered Voyager models made by Bombardier in the early 2000s.

Hitachi Rail assembles these new trains at its Newton Aycliffe facility, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy. The company emphasized that these trains will significantly reduce carbon emissions and improve the environmental sustainability of rail transport in the United Kingdom.

Hybrid trains of Class 805 have also been in service since June this year. These versatile trains can run on electric and diesel, making them ideal for routes with inconsistent power supply. First Trenitalia plans to deploy all 13 hybrid Class 805 trains by the end of the year, increasing route availability without constant reliance on electric infrastructure.

Through this investment, First Trenitalia is poised to modernize its fleet, replacing outdated diesel models with modern, environmentally friendly trains that meet the needs of today’s travelers.
